Ecommerce sales picking up for Christmas rush

Lots of pressure on for the Ecommerce Christmas rush. Expectations in the US are that sales in November will be up 16% on October and sales for Christmas will be up 4-8% on 2010 online.
Whats increasing the November sales figures
- Free shipping has started early with Walmart and other major online stores offering free shipping on all products with no minimum order.
- Newsletter and online promotions encouraging customers with gift ideas and reminders for the last shipping date before Christmas.
- Promoting gift bundles for customers and discounting the bundle to increase ARPU (Average revenue per customer)
- Pre-orders for products not on the shelf yet but due in early December (seeing this alot with music, movies, books and games)
Big sellers for the Christmas season Smart Phones and pads (iPad likely to dominate this area).
Its not too late to start the promotions for Irish stores but you need to be moving your ecommerce website in this direction fast.
